Young Inventors from HKP Shine on the International Stage at Innovation Contest

On March 14, the grand judging and awards ceremony of the 12th Hong Kong International Student Invention and Innovation Competition was held at Hong Kong Chu Hai College. This year’s competition drew entries from 59 local and overseas schools, with over 400 primary-school participants and a total of 243 submissions. The number of international teams set a new record, showcasing rich cross-cultural creativity and exchange.

At the finals, more than a hundred young inventors gathered to present their projects to the panel and answer questions. Our school’s teams performed outstandingly and stood out for their innovative thinking.

Notably, the team of P6A students Michelle and Isabel together with P6E student Faye won the Silver Award and the Hong Kong Special Prize for their project “ShareFood Hub.” This entry is an intelligent food-sharing platform that uses AI for efficient categorization and an app-based matching system to connect urban surplus food with those in need. The project aims to reduce food waste and promote community mutual aid, demonstrating a thoughtful integration of technology and social care.

Another team — P6B Hasson, P6E Island, and P5C Rina — won the Silver Award and the International Innovation Cup for their invention “Never Lose Your Keys Plate.” The device combines infrared sensor tracking technology with a smart plate design to solve the everyday problem of misplaced keys. Its simplicity and practicality earned high praise from the judges.
