— Grade 3 Reading Festival at HKP Brings Lots of Fun
To create a strong reading atmosphere and inspire students to love reading, Premier School Affiliated to Hou Kong Middle School held a Grade 3 reading festival on May 19. The theme was “Books Fill the Mind with Warmth, Reading Helps Us Grow.” Teachers, students, and parents joined together for a joyful and warm reading event.
The festival began with a short welcoming video showing students’ everyday reading moments. Then, Vice Principal Niu Lanzhen gave a speech, encouraging all students to make books their friends and to grow through reading. Next, there was a warm “Reading Star” award ceremony, where excellent students who keep reading were honored and became role models for their classmates.
After that, students presented different performances. A Chinese recitation, “Book-Fragrance Youth,” was full of emotion and showed students’ confidence. There were also a Chinese and English book sharing session by Suri, Wang Shiwann and Aaron, Guo Enxing, with interesting storytelling that led everyone into the wonderful world of books. The English mini-drama “The Real Treasure” was also very lively and playful, and it won rounds of applause.
One of the most exciting parts was the Kahoot “Hundred Questions, Hundred Answers” knowledge quiz. Parents and children worked together as a team, answering questions smoothly. In the end, 10 parent-child pairs won the title “King of Knowledge.” In the parent-child craft activity, everyone designed eco-friendly bags with the theme “I Love Reading.” With paintbrushes and creativity, they captured their love for reading.
At the end, students took part in a book sharing and borrowing session. They exchanged their favorite books, helping good books move from hand to hand. Through sharing, everyone gained new knowledge and built friendships.
This reading festival brought reading to life through many different activities. It showed the school’s reading culture and also built a strong bridge for parents and children to read together. In the future, the school will continue to create more featured reading activities, so that book fragrance can reach every corner of campus and help students meet a better version of themselves through reading.
